THURSO strengthened their lead at the top of the Macleod & MacCallum North Caledonian League with a 3-1 win at Tain on Saturday, in blustery conditions. Asa Sinclair did well to keep a couple of early St Duthus chances out from Miller Mackay and Craig Ross before the visiting Vikings took the lead. Breaking forward a neat cross found Stevie Morris at the back post and the Thurso forward made no mistake with a clever finish to make it 1-0. Morris scored his second five minutes after the break when he turned a squared pass into the net from 10 yards, and four minutes later James McLean hit a powerful strike high into the net after breaking into the box. A late consolation arrived for Saints through Craig Ross following a goalmouth stramash.
